Drew’s on the Move: A Summer Well Spent

☀️

Making memories before our next big chapter.

If you’ve noticed Drew’s on the Move has been a little quiet lately, there’s a very good reason for that. The Drews have been on the move all summer long!

And what a summer it was!

This summer felt a little different for our family. It was our last summer before our oldest daughter headed off to kindergarten. The last summer before school schedules, routines, and calendars started dictating a little more of our time.

For the past five years, we’ve had the freedom to pack up and go whenever we wanted. Knowing that was about to change made me want to squeeze every last bit of adventure out of these summer months.

And that’s exactly what we did!

From our annual Fourth of July week on Martha’s Vineyard to Cape Cod getaways, exploring beautiful Bar Harbor, Maine, celebrating weddings, and even sneaking away for a little couples’ escape to Europe, our summer was filled with travel, family, friends, and so many unforgettable memories.

There were ferry rides, beach days, road trips, ice cream stops, late nights, and more packing and unpacking than I care to admit!

Traveling with three little kids is never exactly relaxing. There are snacks to pack, bags to haul, schedules to juggle, and the occasional meltdown. But somewhere in all that beautiful chaos are the moments that make it all worth it.

Watching our kids discover new places, revisit their favorite traditions, and experience the world together is truly one of my favorite parts of motherhood.

And while most of our adventures included our three little travel buddies, Mom and Dad managed to escape to Europe for some much-needed time together! Incredible food, amazing wine, beautiful destinations, and the chance to reconnect without someone asking for a snack every five minutes. It was just what we needed!

But what made this summer especially meaningful wasn’t necessarily where we went. It was knowing that we were closing out a chapter.

Our oldest is growing up, and kindergarten marks the beginning of a whole new season for our family. One filled with exciting milestones, new friendships, school routines, and a little less flexibility to take off whenever we please.

It’s bittersweet, to say the least.

So, while I had every intention of keeping up with the blog throughout the summer, life happened. And for once, I was perfectly okay with putting the posting aside and simply enjoying it all.

Less time documenting every moment and more time being in the moment.

The blog may have been quiet, but the Drews certainly weren’t!

Now that we’re settling into our new routines, I’m excited to catch you up on all our adventures. From our favorite New England summer destinations to our European escape, I have so many places, experiences, restaurants, and travel tips to share.

After all, that’s what Drew’s on the Move is all about: exploring new places, making memories, and bringing you along for the ride.

Here’s to a summer we’ll never forget, a new chapter for our family, and plenty more adventures ahead.

The Drews are always on the move! 🤍
